Our History

The concept of Boulder Prep began with a few students in the jury room of Magistrate Cole's Courtroom. Local high school principals collaborated with the Magistrate to establish a focus school where students could complete work for home schools.

We had 12 students in the Probation Department conference room. In a partnership with the University of Colorado Department of Education, we were able to secure 27 practicum students to develop and provide educational services.

The Boulder Valley School Board approved our charter school proposal for Boulder Preparatory High School with 25 students. Our charter would focus on providing a college preparatory curriculum to high-risk students. As a part of the Boulder Valley School district we are able to grant school credit and high school diplomas.

We opened our doors to over 30 students in a local shopping center, our first campus away from the justice center.

We increased our contract to 40 students and leased 2000 square feet in a local industrial park in the city of Boulder.

New administration hired to facilitate growth and change.

We entered into a contract for 53 students with the Boulder Valley School District.

Our student population grows to 73 students and we open the doors to our new home; a 6000 square foot facility in North Boulder.
