A partnership was developed in August 2005 with Boulder Prep, Boulder Probation, MESA and Safe-House Alliance. Students were taught by representatives of these agencies regarding Violence Prevention measures for use in their own unique environment. The main topics discussed with students were safeguards and resources to use regarding Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, and Bystander Intervention.
Classroom discussion was encouraged for each topic. Students also did workbook activities, classroom exercises, Reflections homework, read articles, created poetry, brought in music, viewed movies, had guest speakers and received statistics relative to their age group regarding safety around dating, appropriate peer interactions and internet use.
In order to teach other peers, teachers and their parents about what they had learned students created a video, public service announcement and a musical composition to share.
